I work as part of the Modern Democracy business development team working across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Currently, we are experiencing a significant increase in demand with a growing number of local authorities seeking to embrace digital transformation in the polling station, especially after seeing the successful implementation of Modern Polling at the UK General Election.

General Election a major milestone for Modern Democracy

In a year that had already been a record one for Modern Democracy, the UK General Election marks yet another significant milestone.

Working with almost 50 local authorities across the UK as their chosen polling day partner, we served an electorate of 4.5 million across an incredible 3556 polling places.  With significant turnout figures the system delivered on speed and efficiency.

Getting our partners ready for polling day

As the weeks tick by ahead of the General Election, it is a busy period for Modern Democracy and the many local authorities that have chosen us as their polling day partner.

How Modern Polling has taken the stress out of election day

There is no doubt about it, running and managing elections is stressful, for those in charge of delivering a smooth polling experience as well as the polling station staff, behind the scenes and meeting with the electorate at the polling station.

And when we speak to our customers about what they consider to be the greatest benefits of using Modern Polling, our cloud-based digital voter check-in and verification platform, among the most common answers is that it has taken the stress out of election day.

What was your first job?

My very first job was working in my aunt’s restaurant in Ballymoney. I was there from age 11 to 18 and it is where I first really gained my work ethic as well as a taste for business as I watched how my aunt operated.
